Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s relationship is frequently the subject of bogus tabloid stories. Gossip Cop has debunked countless false claims about the couple. Here are five recent wrong rumors.
Just last week, Gossip Cop busted Woman’s Day Australia for claiming
that the reason Rodriguez hasn’t proposed to his girlfriend yet is that
he can’t afford to buy an engagement ring. The magazine alleged that the
former MLB star is running out of money due to his battle with his
ex-wife over child and spousal support. The story didn’t make much sense
considering that Rodriguez and Lopez purchased a $15.3 million
apartment in Manhattan earlier this year. The former Yankee is also
estimated to be worth around $300 million. Additionally, Rodriguez’s rep
assured us on the record that the story was nonsense.
Last month, Gossip Cop called out the Globe for making up a story
about Lopez wanting to become “more of a housewife” for her boyfriend.
The tabloid contended that the singer planned to take a break from show
business to be “the traditional partner that Alex needs.” Around the
same time the phony story was published, it was announced that Lopez is
producing a new cop drama for NBC. In addition to that, Lopez announced
she’s working on a new song with Bad Bunny. It’s clear the singer and
actress has no intention of sitting home and being a “housewife.”
Gossip Cop also corrected the National Enquirer last month after the
outlet claimed that Rodriguez felt “trapped” by Lopez and wanted to
start dating other women again. In reality, Lopez told E! News that
Rodriguez “is so supportive and loving.” She further noted that the
former baseball player frequently attended her Las Vegas residency. If
Rodriguez truly felt “trapped” and wanted to be single again, he
wouldn’t be going out of his way to be at his girlfriend’s side. The
premise was baseless.
In August, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style for wrongly reporting
that Lopez and Rodriguez had gotten engaged during a vacation to Capri
and were planning a $10 million wedding. Not only did Rodriguez’s
spokesperson shoot down the story, but Lopez herself has repeatedly said
she’s not rushing into marriage.
And finally, Gossip Cop called out OK! in July for falsely claiming
that Lopez was pregnant with Rodriguez’s baby. Around the same time the
story was written, Lopez was spotted showing off her flat stomach while
strolling through New York City in gym clothes. Naturally, we were
hesitant to believe the claim. Our doubts were confirmed after checking
in with a source close to the singer, who confirmed she wasn’t
expecting. Time has proven that to be the case.
